The Social Security Investment Fund (formerly the Investment Unit) commenced its operations in 2003. It is responsible for managing and investing the funds of the Social Security Corporation with the aim of achieving sound and sustainable returns on invested assets, while preserving the real value of assets and holdings and ensuring adequate liquidity to meet the future obligations of the Social Security Corporation.
The portfolio consists of money market instruments with maturity dates that do not exceed one year, such as deposits, treasury bills, repurchase agreements, certificates of deposit and current accounts. The portfolio aims to achieve the best return while maintaining the short term liquidity needs within the restrictions of the Fund’s Investment Policy. The Fund is prohibited from investing in financial derivatives except for hedging purposes, and the Fund does not trade or speculate in foreign currencies.
The value of the money market instruments portfolio amounted to JD 2,245.6 million as at 30/09/2025, representing 12.6% of the Fund’s total portfolio.
