Transportation

The transportation sector is a key driver of the national economy and a fundamental pillar in enhancing Jordan’s competitiveness as a regional hub for logistics and trade. It serves as the primary link between production centers and markets, facilitating the efficient movement of people and goods, which directly supports the growth of productive, tourism, and service sectors.

The sector also plays a strategic role in advancing sustainable development through infrastructure development and the adoption of modern transport solutions, contributing to improving the efficiency and integration of the overall economic system.

The Social Security Investment Fund invests in a number of major companies and strategic projects that form the backbone of the Kingdom’s land, maritime, and air transport system, most notably: Aqaba Railway Project Company, the Jordan National Shipping Lines, and Royal Jordanian Airlines. The Fund has also financed the Bus Rapid Transit (Amman–Zarqa) project through its leasing finance window, reflecting its approach to supporting infrastructure projects with direct economic impact.
